The above average potential

Just heard that my change of job description is approved and likely effective in a week or so.  What does it mean?  Nothing really, in the immediate sense.  No raise, no change of station, no change of duties.  But the potential is there, and that is what I'm excited about.  The potential is what could be, what might be - and the desire to make it what will be.

Now I'm thinking what will the past look like in the future, I mean, two years from now, how will I look back on these next two years.  Will it pay off, will it flourish.  Will it refresh my outlook.  Will it spin my perspective on it's axis.  Will it power the change I've been looking for, waiting for.




But something always is the catalyst for change.  It could be a summer wind, or a fresh idea.  It could be a view of the past or an understanding of the future.

Ain't it so that the least tremur can cause the highest impact wave.  Am I potentially on it.

When Blogger "jumps the shark"

Ain't it so when your scanning "next blog" in this media, if their last post starts with:

"Yes, it's been a while since I last blogged - I think 4 months to be exact."  It is likely that blogger has "jumped the shark".

Fad, hobby, diversion, obsession - all of these are temporary, right?

Should I or Shouldn't I?

Used to get serious about photography back in college, when SLR was the thing.

The D7000 - with an $1100 price tag.

How does this compare to a $400 camera in 1972?

Ain't it so that with the value of a dollar, that the D7000 will be a steal at any price?

Gliese 581 - No it's (not yet) a movie title

This is the name of the planet discovered that is "most like" earth.

Ain't it so - if we've discovered it, then some other extra terrestrials have too?

Tony Curtis dies - age 85

Ain't is so - if an actor performed in more than 140 major motion pictures and was nominated as for an Oscar for his performance in 1958's "The Defiant Ones" with Sidney Poitier, and played opposite Marilyn Monror, in the 1959 movie "Some Like it Hot" he deserves more than a mere mention on CNN.com - I hope so.

Mr. Curtis was also married six times.

Just thinking of the iconic, classic and vintage Rock 'n Roll acts over the years:

Ain't it so, that this qualifies as a reverse bucket list?  Some of these I want to see before I die, and some before they die!

Lucky Numbers

I've been telling people who ask where I work "I work at the Eleven Seven Eleven building."  This is not the name, and I don't know that name.  This is the address.  Does this make it my lucky business address?

How do people come up with their lucky numbers?   If you've played the dice game "Craps" then you know a "come out" roll of seven or eleven is a winner for the shooter.

We know unlucky numbers like "snake eyes" or a two on the dice, or thirteen as in "Friday the Thirteenth."  What makes them unlucky?

Are the selection of lucky or unlucky numbers a crutch, or a substitution for substantive thought, inner reflection, personal responsibility, learning and knowledge.  Is it a shortcut.

Ain't it so - that if you believe in the power of lucky numbers, you also suffer the misfortune of unlucky numbers?

I think I'm going out to buy a lottery ticket.
